The Silo House Inverloch

Project Details

Set amongst the sweeping paddocks and coastal air of Inverloch, The Silo House is a bold, architectural statement—where rural memory meets contemporary design. Conceived by designer Belinda Scott of Bower Bird Design, the home is a transformative reimagining of disused dairy farm sheds into a series of rustic pavilions, largely built using recycled and repurposed materials. It is a rare example of sustainable, vernacular-inspired architecture that doesn’t compromise on ambition.

This extraordinary project captured national attention and was featured on Grand Designs Australia, Season 10, Episode 2, establishing it as one of the most remarkable residential builds in the country. Filmed over an 18-month period between 2020 and 2021, the episode followed the vision, complexity and craft involved in delivering a structure that is both raw and refined—off-grid, offbeat, and unmistakably beautiful.

Interior designer Claire Cau-Cecile was brought in during the later stages of the build to support Belinda’s design vision and prepare the home for its on-screen reveal. Claire’s role was to finesse, consult and style—elevating the interiors with warmth, cohesion, and a lived-in charm that matched the home’s architectural character. Her selections honoured the integrity of the recycled materials while softening the industrial palette with natural textures, earthy tones and considered finishes.

Following the project’s debut, Claire continues to oversee all styling, media requests, and guest experience for accommodation and events held at the property—ensuring The Silo House remains not just a visual landmark, but a place to be experienced.
