Super Yacht Orraia

Project Details

Super Yacht Orraia is the product of a singular creative vision, meticulously shaped and executed by interior designer Claire Cau-Cecile. Tasked with leading the design from concept to completion, Claire was brought into the project by branding agency Hello Exanimo without a defined brief, collaborating closely with first-time super yacht owners who looked to her to shape the entire aesthetic direction of the vessel.

Working in partnership with the prestigious Horizon Yachts team in Taiwan, Claire was responsible for every aspect of the yacht’s interior design over a 12-month period. Her role extended far beyond the conceptual—she specified every fixture, fitting, finish, and piece of furniture, translated designs on-site internationally, and oversaw the creation of one-off pieces through close collaborations with artisans. Among the standout features: a custom-designed, sculptural lighting piece valued at over $20,000 that anchors the kitchen—a functional space elevated into an artwork.

Claire’s design narrative drew inspiration from the Australian land and seascape: the eucalyptus greens of native flora, ochre tones of the desert, serene blues of the ocean, and the warm golden light of sunset. These elements were woven throughout the yacht’s three levels—from an open-plan living and dining area adorned with Australian-made fabrics and bespoke fixtures, to a chef’s kitchen wrapped in swirling green stone with bronze and warm timber cabinetry.

The master suite evokes maritime serenity with luxury, its ensuite continuing the aquatic theme with organic textures and flowing forms. Four additional guest suites mirror the palette of sand and sun, softening the interiors without sacrificing their refined elegance.

Designing for a floating vessel also brought technical challenges. Claire had to ensure that her creative vision conformed to the engineering constraints of a super yacht—working within strict spatial limitations, balancing weight distribution, and selecting materials that would perform in a marine environment, all while maintaining the sophistication and comfort expected of a $12 million luxury yacht.

Through her hands-on leadership, artistic intuition, and deep commitment to craftsmanship, Claire Cau-Cecile transformed Super Yacht Orraia into a seamless expression of Australian luxury—anchored in place, yet always ready to sail.
