L’escapadou, Cordes Sur Ciel, France
Project Details
Thirteenth century templar nights village, fortified, village house,, cordes in the sky, often woken amongst the clouds , a holiday house for international owners, in a town that would often welcome the tour de france and titled the “Village Prefere des Francais “
Converted into a family home with open plan living and views of the surrounding countryside. Incorporating the existing stone work and limited by the strict design rules for heritage towns, this renovation pushed the boundaries between old and new. Large floor to ceiling windows become the feature for the extension that effortlessly brought the light into what was once a dark space, allowed for easy access to the pool and split level garden, with internal stone walls, built into the side of the hilled town there was conscious design around using this remarkable feature as a backdrop to each space.
The house was then furnished with classic French style and collection of vintage items lovingly sourced from flea markets from surrounding towns.
