Bowser Bean Café

Project Details

The journey began with a single site and an open brief—an opportunity to reimagine what a regional service station could become. Over the span of seven years, Claire Cau-Cecile, in collaboration with Dianne Sweeney as Twofold Projects, has helped lead the design transformation of Bowser Bean Café into a regional design success story—turning everyday convenience into a warm, community-driven experience.

With sixteen sites completed across regional Victoria and a seventeenth on the horizon, Bowser Bean has grown into a network of thoughtful, design-led spaces that go far beyond the traditional café–petrol station model. From Euroa to Echuca, Swan Hill to Kyabram, each site brings together robust, thoughtful materials with an atmosphere more often found in a city laneway café than roadside convenience. Each location is a testament to how carefully curated interiors can bring people together—where locals, tradies, families and travellers all find common ground over a great coffee and nourishing food.

Claire’s work within Twofold Projects has helped shape the interior identity of each site—balancing durability with design sophistication, creating spaces that are as practical as they are welcoming. Robust materials, layered textures, and considered spatial planning make each café feel like a natural extension of its town—a place where you're bound to run into someone you know.

With every site, Claire has carefully shaped both the interior experience and the broader identity of Bowser Bean—crafting a look and feel that resonates with its diverse audience while staying grounded in community values. The upcoming 2025 launch of the Bowser Business Hub in Euroa signals the next phase: a hybrid café and co-working space that brings connection and creativity together in one regional destination.

Supported by visual branding from Kylie Pye Design, quality joinery by TH Cabinets Bendigo, and Claire’s visionary approach, Bowser Bean is now a recognised leader in the café and convenience space. In 2025, the brand was awarded Multi-Site Operator of the Year at the AACA Industry Awards, a testament to the impact of intentional design on even the most everyday moments.
